BJD drops 6 MPs in first list of 9 candidates

Bhubaneswar: The Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal ( BJD ) retained only one of its eight sitting MPs in its first list of nine candidates for Lok Sabha seats voting in the first two phases on April 11 and April 18. Sunita, who recently joined BJD, will fight from the Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat. The list was released on Monday.The BJD had won eight of these nine parliamentary seats in 2014. Chandra Sekhar Sahu, former Union minister who had quit Congress last year and joined BJD, has been fielded from Berhampur.Odisha will vote for the Lok Sabha and assembly polls in four phases. They are Pramila Bisoi, member of a self-help group, Kaushalya Hikaka, a school teacher, and Sunita Biswal, daughter of former chief minister Hemanand Biswal.Pramila will contest from the Aska Lok Sabha seat..
