Mob attacks police over Chaiti celebration in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district

A local mob has attacked Odisha police personnel, who went to disperse the large crowd gathered to celebrate the Chaiti festival (festival of the holy month of Chaitra) in Odisha`s Mayurbhanj, Odisha, three policemen have been injured in this incident.

The police reached the spot to disperse the mob but were surrounded and attacked by the mob.

The incident took place in Dewanbahali village in Udala under the Sarat Police station.

ASI Mohapatra said, "When the police arrived on the spot it tried to prevent people from gathering at one place amid the alarming Covid-19 situation, but the crowd became uncontrollable and started vandalising our vehicles and attacking our personnel".

The attack by the locals left ASI, Biswajit Das Mohapatra seriously injured.

Two other police personnel were also injured in the attack.

3 police personnel were injured after being allegedly attacked by a mob at Debanbahali village of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.



We asked them to not gather at a spot as it might spread the #COVID19 infection.
