Covid-19 vaccination: Odisha to vaccinate people who don't have an ID card

Odisha recorded 10982 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday while 17 patients succumbed to the Covid-19 virus at the same time.

An official of the Health Department gave this information.

Meanwhile, the state government has decided to give Coivd-19 vaccine jabs to those who are at high risk of infection but don`t have an identity card.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health PK Mohapatra said that such people cannot be denied vaccines due to lack of identity card.

He said, "Vaccination cannot be denied if such sensitive people do not have identity cards." These include nomads, prisoners, people living in mental health centres, people living in old age homes, beggars etc.

Odisha administered 49,191 test samples on Tuesday and the positivity rate (TPR) here stood at 22.32 %.

The TPR in the state has remained above 20 per cent since Friday.

Currently, 98,230 covid-19 patients are receiving treatment in various Covid-19 facilities in the state.

The cumulative death toll has been pushed to 2232 after 17 more deaths were recorded on Wednesday.

The official said that so far a total of 5,65,648 cases of Coivd-19 have been reported in Odisha.

Khurda district, which included capital Bhubaneswar received the highest 1,539 new cases of Covid-19, while 964 cases have been reported in Sudargarh, 885 in Cuttack, 539 cases in Angul and 454 new cases in Sambalpur.
