Odisha receives 7395 fresh cases of Covid-19, total cases cross 8 lakh mark

Coronavirus cases continue to decline in Odisha; the coastal state recorded 7395 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Friday pushing the total cases tally past the 8 lakh mark to 8.06 lakh.

A total of 40 covid-19 patients succumbed to the deadly virus on Friday.

Currently, there are 78,687 active cases in the state, while 7,24,402 patients have been cured or recovered.

The cumulative death toll has reached 2952 after 40 fresh deaths.

Khordha District, which includes capital Bhubaneswar, received the highest 1069 new cases, followed by 868 in Cuttack, Jajpur (516), Angul (443), Mayurbhanj (384) and Puri (356), said a data shared by the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Other districts which reported cases between 100 and 350 are- Kendrapara (341), Jagatsinghpur (288), Balasore (285), Sundargarh (267), Nayagarh (243), Bhadrak (238), Nawarangpur (196), Bargarh (171), Kalahandi (166), Koraput (161), Keonjhar (158), Sambalpur (137), Boudh (133), Rayagada (125) and Malkangiri (110).

Dictricts which detected below 100 cases are- Sonepur (91), Dhenkanal and Bolangir (81 each), Kandhamal (76), Ganjam (69), Deogarh (57), Gajapati (52) and Nuapada (22).

At least 4,169 fresh cases were reported from quarantine centres and the remaining 3,226 were found during contact tracing.
