Puri to soon get an International Airport, operations to start from 2022-23

Odisha`s Transport Minister, Padmanabh Behera said on Sunday that air services in Puri may start by 2022-23; meanwhile, the work of establishing an international airport in Puri has started.

Transport Minister Behera told that the process of setting up a new airport in Puri has already started, which includes land identification and other steps.

If the plan made by us continues on time, then by the beginning of the year 2022 or 23, the public will be able to take advantage of the air service from Puri.

He said that the state government is constantly in discussion with the aviation ministry and experts on the matter.

The Bhubaneswar Airport of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and its stakeholders are also playing an active role in providing 24×7 transportation of medical equipment and goods.

Odisha Chief Minister Patnaik wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 1, 2021, requesting him to build an international airport at Puri in the name of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.
