Smrutirekha Behera, a school teacher in Odisha`s Bhubaneswar has started driving Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation`s garbage collection vehicle after she lost her job due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Smrutirekha Behera of Bhubaneshwar lives in the Pathabandha slum area with her husband, two daughters and mother-in-law.

She used to teach in a nursery school.

Her life was normal before the Covid-19 outbreak but it turned upside down after the Covid lockdown.

All the offline classes in her school were closed.

Even the work of teaching tuition in homes stopped.

While narrating her ordeal, Smrutirekha said - "I have two daughters, we could not even feed them properly during the epidemic.

I borrowed money from others for the family`s food, but this could not last long.
