Supreme court denies Rath yatra across Odisha, allows only at Puri Jagannath temple

Summary:

The Supreme Court has refused to interfere with the plea seeking to take out the Jagannath Rath Yatra at places other than Puri in Odisha.

Along with this, the court also dismissed the petitions challenging the order of the Odisha government in this matter.

The Odisha government has allowed Rath Yatra only in Puri and asked all other Jagannath temples to perform rituals in the premises.

The Supreme Court has approved the decision of the government.

The court said that in view of the Covid-19 pandemic permission for the Rath Yatra cannot be given.
