60,000 bio-toilets to help make state open defecation free

PANAJI: In line with chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s target to make Goa open defecation free (ODF) by December 2019, the Goa waste management corporation (GWMC) plans to supply 60,000 bio-toilets to eligible households, and has invited bidders to supply and install the units.Bidders will have to employ technology from the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO to build the bio-toilets and these have to be supplied within 90 days of winning the bid.The bio-toilets are modular and are designed keeping in mind requirements of Indian sanitary practices..
