7 acquitted in Mauli Jagran cop attack case

The convicts are facing another trial at a Mohali court for looting the ATM at Lalru in 2016. CHANDIGARH: A district court here on Saturday acquitted seven persons in a case related to the attack on a Punjab police team in 2016 when the cops had come to Mauli Jagran to arrest the accused for looting an ATM in Lalru, Mohali.However, three persons were convicted and awarded imprisonment of two years. The convicts have also been directed to pay Rs 10,000 fine each.On October 16, 2016, as many as 10 persons were booked by the police. They started throwing stones, bricks, utensils, gas cylinder from the roof of the house upon the police party with an intention to hurt them. The accused also damaged the Innova car in which the cops had come and the driver of the car, Gurnam Singh , had a narrow escape in the incident..
