Summary:

CHANDIGARH: Kashmiri students of Panjab University feel harassed after the DUI (dean of university instructions) had sought their profiles from each department. The university has asked for their names, father’s name, class, address, and contact number, a demand which the 60 Kashmiri students in the varsity claimed was to be demeaning and demotivating. Profiling orders such as this will demotivate Kashmiri students to explore our country for the fear of being discriminated against.”Panjab University campus council president Kanu Priya raised the matter with dean of student welfare (DSW) Emanual Nahar on Tuesday. She said: “The dean assured me that no sort of community profiling will be done at the departments. I came to know that Kashmir was a political issue and common people had nothing to do with it. I will also write to the DUI.”On Tuesday evening, the National Student Union of India (NSUI) gave the dean of student welfare a memorandum asking Panjab University to withdraw the circular..
