Haryana khadi board to organise fashion melas

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board (HKVIB) will organise Khadi Fashion Melas in 2019 to popularise khadi products and make them easily available to people.HKVIB chairperson Gargi Kakkar said that first online Khadi Selling Centre of the state has already been launched and khadi selling stores would be opened at the district level and also outside the state.Kakkar said that through the boards’ initiative of online khadi selling centres, Khadi would reach the common people. She said that strenuous efforts would be made to establish the identity of khadi products of the board in the country as well as abroad.The chairperson said that not only the first online Khadi selling center has been launched but its brand- Har Khadi - logo has also been released. She said that such stores would also be opened in other districts on a priority basis and would be linked with self-help groups. Besides this, products would be made available in Tourism Corporation and other selling centers. She said that spinning cotton on Charkha has taken a bigger form and today wearing Khadi has become fashion.She said that the government has been requested to arrange an adequate budget to the board to promote khadi production..
