Summary:

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) had quite recently declared a three-storeyed dharamshala , adjoining Radha Krishan temple in Sector 18 , as unsafe. Now, the UT estate office has decided to check the structural safety of the dharamshala. The MC had recently written to various departments, including the office of the deputy commissioner, UT estate office, chief fire officer and the SSP, to take steps and prevent any loss of life, as the building has become dangerous and may fall any time.A senior UT estate office official said that they would now write to UT engineering department to check the structural safety of the dharamshala and submit a report at the earliest. Sunita's roommate Ayushi and Congress leader Sunil Chopra, who was the then president of the temple, was also arrested by the UT police for allegedly acting as conspirators and agents, who roped in candidates. The investigations revealed that paper leak beneficiary Sunita had stayed there. They would initiate further action only after getting structural safety report, he added. The MC in its report had stated that the three-storeyed building had been constructed on the land belonging to the MC and that the temple committee had also encroached upon the green area behind the temple and merged the area with the temple campus by constructing a boundary wall.Last year, the temple came into limelight as three accused in HCS (judicial) paper leak case had stayed in the temple dharamshala..
