Ghaggar bridge to remain shut again

MOHALI: The old Ghaggar Bridge near Bhankarpur on Chandigarh-Ambala stretch which was repaired in October this year has once again shown worn out signs with potholes re-appearing and the concrete slabs underneath the bridge started falling.The potholes which were repaired two months ago have again re-appeared and the two-wheelers riders had narrow escape while crossing. Earlier in February, the bridge was closed for 5 months for repair and was re-opened in July.The company responsible for undertaking the repair work in July had assured that after the repairing, there will be no need of repair work for 20 years. Company officials said the lane near Bhankarpur from Zirakpur side will be closed for heavy vehicles.Derabassi industrialists, frequent travellers on this stretch of highway are the main sufferers..
