Panchkula to have 1st street vendor market

PANCHKULA: The Panchkula municipal corporation will soon have its first street vendor market at Sector 19 . Around 2,700 street vendors will be rehabilitated by the civic body in Panchkula under this project.Accoridng to officials, the street vendor survey was conducted by a mobile-based application using GIS mapping with digital photograph of vendors under the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014. The Parliament had passed the said Act that guarantees them the right to work as street vendors. The civic body will soon release budget of around Rs 1 crore for the construction of the vending market.
