Sialkot woman marries Ambala man in Patiala

PATIALA: A 27-year-old woman from a village in Sialkot , Pakistan, tied the nuptial knot with a 33-year-old man from Ambala at a gurdwara in Patiala on Saturday.Parvinder Singh hails from Tepla village in Ambala, while Kiran Sarjeet Kaur is from Sialkot’s Wan village. The marriage between Kiran and Parvinder had been arranged by their families, which are distantly related. Kiran is the niece of Parvinder's aunt (wife of his father's brother), who had stayed back in Sialkot during Partition.The two first met in 2014, when Kiran came to stay with her relatives at Tepla village along with her family. On Thursday, they reached Delhi via the Samjhauta Express . In 2016, the families decided to solemnise their wedding following which Parvinder’s family applied for a Pakistani visa twice, in 2017 and 2018, but their applications were turned down.“Then it was decided that Kiran and her family will come to Tepla for the wedding..
