Summary:

“My principals do not allow me to shift from the stand that I had taken and I had also talked to Parminder in this regard. He said, “I have asked Parminder not to contest the elections, but it would be his own political decision if he decides to fight for the Lok Sabha,” he said.Dhindsa had on September 29 resigned from all posts held by him within the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) citing health reasons. But since he has his own political considerations, so he is free to take whatever decision he thinks is best for him,” Dhindsa said.It is being perceived that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) would be fielding Parminder Singh Dhindsa to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur from where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state chief Bhagwant Mann and former Congress minister Rajinder Kaur Bhatal are the likely candidates of their respective parties.Meanwhile, Parminder Dhindsa, when asked about his candidature from Sangrur refused to comment on the matter stating that it was premature to say anything in this regard. However, he had later put on record that he had resigned as the party had failed to deal with the sacrilege issue and this had dented the party’s image among the Panthic voters.Dhindsa refrained from giving replies to other political questions put up by the scribes but stated that whatever repercussions the political developments including Takalis splitting from the party might have for Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) would come to fore once the voters poll during the next elections. PATIALA: After having put the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leadership in a spot by resigning from all party positions as a mark of protest against the party's failure in dealing with the sacrilege incidents, senior Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Monday said he did not want his son and former Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.Interacting with the mediapersons at Mastuana Sahib, where a number of Akali bodies had organised a joint event to celebrate the Padma Vibhushan award accorded to him, Dhindsa said he was still firm on his stand that he took in September last year, when he had resigned from all party posts while retaining his parliamentary membership..
