CHANDIGARH: A Canadian NRI who owns a music company called Rehaan Records has alleged a person claiming to be a gangster tried to extort Rs 20 lakh from him, prompting the police to register a case.Sandeep Rehaan, who runs a YouTube channel that has more than 10 lakh subscribers and is a music producer, said he was staying in a hotel in Sector 35.In his complaint, he said he was with popular singers Karan Aujla and Deep Jandu for a music show when he received a WhatsApp call from a person who did not reveal his name demanding Rs 20 lakh as extortion money. A case under Sections 384 (punishment for extortion) and 387 (putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion) of the IPC ( Indian Penal Code ) was registered at the Sector 36 police station.When contacted, Sector 36 police station house officer inspector Ranjodh Singh refused to share any information of the case.Rehaan has produced many popular songs in the Punjabi music industry with over 50+ million views on his YouTube channel..
