Man held for growing poppy in Ambala village

AMBALA: The Naggal police have booked a resident of village Jandheri for allegedly growing poppy at his property in village Jandheri of the district. Upon counting the plants, a total of 302 poppy plants were recovered from the property and they were uprooted and taken into the custody. The cops received the tip-off about the plantation of poppy at village Jandheri following which a raid was conducted at the spot and 302 fully grown poppy plants were recovered.The accused has been identified as Balbir Singh and has been booked for growing poppy at his property without any permit or license. During the raid, the team found poppy planted at the property. When the accused Balbir was asked to present any permit or license for planting the contraband, he failed to present any relevant document following which he was taken into custody..
