Sarcilege: Sukhbir, Majithia get fresh notices

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday issued fresh notices to former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and former revenue minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia for making statements against Justice Ranjit Singh inquiry commission that probed sacrilege cases in the state. Both of them have been asked to respond the issue by April 29.Earlier on Monday morning, Justice Amit Rawal had issued bailable warrants against both the leaders for non-appearance despite issuing of court notices. The commission had submitted its first report on June 30, 2017, and final report on August 29, 2018. The section provides for penal action against the acts that bring the commission or any of its members disrepute. The HC issued warrants as both the leaders had not received the summons sent to their addresses by the high court regarding the case.However later, the bench recalled the orders regarding issuance of warrants and ordered to serve notice to the SAD chief at his official MLA flat..
