SFS against new hostel rules for girls

Chandigarh | Monday | 15th July, 2019

Summary:

Tribune News ServiceChandigarh, July 14The Students for Society (SFS) has expressed concern over newly printed hostel rulebook by the PU Vice-Chancellor and wardens of all girls’ hostels. The new rules are an attempt to curb the assertion of women inside public spaces at all times. They are not answerable to the parents when girls have to take expensive PGs outside the university due to lack of hostels and a transparent hostel allotment portal. So, as a move to restore power and “safety” for hostel inmates, it has been decided that the female students who fail to mark their attendance will be expelled from the hostel after two warnings. After which, all fines charged from female inmates were thereby cancelled and they could avail of 24*7 entry/exit by signing on a mobility register..
