Kher for sustainable development, 3Rs

Chandigarh | Friday | 20th September, 2019

Summary:

Chief guest Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, addressed NSS volunteers and apprised them of growing problems due to the use of plastic. Quoting a line from Samuel Coleridge’s famous poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, “Water, water everywhere, nor any drop to drink”, Kher championed the Jal Shakti Abhiyan while telling the audience about rapidly decreasing groundwater and freshwater. Kher encouraged the youngsters to adopt the policy of sustainable development and manageable growth by pursuing 3Rs — reuse, recycle, reduce. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony in which all NSS volunteers took part. A flash-mob was organised by volunteers to spread awareness among students regarding the problems caused by plastic and remedial actions..
