The police said Rakesh Kumar was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case registered against him in 1998. Rakesh Kumar was lodged at the Central Jail, Patiala, before he was granted parole for 8 weeks in May 2019 and was to re-appear in jail on July 26. But he had not returned to the prison since then, said the police.
