Punjab teachers discuss pension scheme, nat’l education policy

Representatives from Panjab University Teachers' Association (PUTA), Chandigarh; PUTA, Patiala; Teachers’ Association, GNDU, Amritsar; PCCTU, GCTA, PAUTA and Teachers’ Association GADVASU, Ludhiana, attended the meeting. Various issues were discussed at the meeting, including the non-implementation of 7th Pay Commission; National Education Policy; revival of old pension scheme; pending cases of CAS promotion, regularisation of teachers and funding of higher educational institutions. Members expressed their concern about the lack of implementation of 7th Pay Commission by the Punjab Government. It was observed that 7th Pay Commission has been implemented in all states except Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Manipur. “We shall also be taking up the issues of revival of old pension scheme, national education policy and removal of ambiguities in 2018 UGC Regulations on CAS, in addition to the immediate implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in the rally,” she said..
