However, the recommendation was turned down by Education Secretary BL Sharma on the grounds that the seniority list of principals and teachers was not in order. The decision will be taken after the seniority list is finalised.”The contention in the existing seniority list was raised by Deputy District Education Officer Monica Maini, who submitted a representation to higher officials of the Education Department, claiming seniority over Alka Mehta as her post of joining was couple of months before Mehta. Despite concern raised by Maini many times through myriads of representations over the erroneous seniority list Mehta was recommended as the DEO by senior officials. Alka Mehta could not be reached while Deputy DEO Monica Maini refused to comment on the issue..
