Unhygienic food lands five eateries in the soup

The penalty has been imposed for not maintaining hygienic conditions as prescribed under the rules while preparing food items. The other eateries which were penalised were M/s GA Food and Hospitality Services, 9-D, where also the teams found pizza, pasta and garlic bread packets being prepared in unhygienic conditions. After hearing the owners’ version, the Deputy Commissioner found that there were certain shortcomings for which a penalty needed to be imposed. He said in the absence of regular monitoring, they had been facing health-related problems due to unhygienic food. The Deputy Commissioner also imposed a fine on the contractor of Shivalik Hostel, Punjab Engineering College, Sector 12, for preparing “chane, chapati and bhurtha” in unhygienic conditions..
