SAD leaders court arrest, accuse Cong of bid to implicate Majithia in false drug case

Chandigarh, Nov 27 (PTI) SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and other party members on Saturday courted arrest to register their protest against what they called a "conspiracy" by the Congress to implicate senior party leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a "false drug case".

Led by Badal, senior leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) marched towards Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi"s residence and courted arrest.

Earlier, talking to reporters, Badal accused Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu of resorting to "extra constitutional" measures by directing the state government to register a false case against Akali leader Bikram Majithia.

"The chief minister and the home minister have not only agreed to this demand to divert attention from failures of the Congress government but have also directed the DGP to register the false case," he said terming it a "conspiracy" on the part of the Congress.

"The SAD is very clear in this matter.

All such persons will be prosecuted once the SAD-BSP alliance government is formed in the state.
