Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma meets Amarinder Singh

Chandigarh, Sep 23 (PTI) Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma on Friday met former chief minister Amarinder Singh at the latter"s residence in Siswan near here and the two leaders discussed the future course of action of the party.

This was the first meeting between Sharma and Singh after the Army veteran joined the BJP in Delhi on Monday.

Sharma was accompanied by some senior leaders of the state BJP unit.

"The BJP leaders discussed the prevailing political scenario in Punjab and the future course of action of the party, which has emerged as the main and only challenger to the misgovernance of the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state," the party said in a release.

"Pleased to host the state BJP president Ashwani Sharma Ji and other senior leaders of the party at my residence today.

Together we will work hard for a better and secure future of our state and our country," the release quoted Singh as saying.

The BJP is planning a mass mobilisation programme across the state after a successful protest against the AAP government in Chandigarh on Thursday, the release said.

The BJP held a protest accusing the AAP government of failing on all fronts.

BJP leaders, who spoke during the protest, hit out at the AAP dispensation for levelling baseless allegations against the party of conducting "Operation Lotus".
