Mohali municipal corporation loses Rs 23 lakh; 2 officers face investigation

"But the two officers for their alleged vested interests approached the secretary of urban local bodies and convinced him to order a retendering. After retendering the bids were recalled and the tender rate was finalized at Rs 5.10 crore, just Rs 2 lakh below the original tender bid thus rendering the civic body a loss of Rs 23 lakh," said Sethi. As far as the matter is concerned, the retendering was called following the orders of secretary of urban local bodies and the re-tendering process was conducted after completion of my tenure at Mohali MC." Also our sources told us that there is alleged connivance of MC officials in the allotting of tenders.
