Community parking rates in sectors with more vehicles set to be higher

The average number of vehicles for each family is more than two.The problem is grave in phase II (sectors 31 to 47), which has the highest number of registered vehicles, 1,45,999, both two-wheelers and fourwheelers, followed by phase I sectors (sectors 1 to 30) having 1, 14,461 registered vehicles. In phase III comprising sectors 48 to 56 there are 34,976 registered vehicles. CHANDIGARH: Residents living in sectors having a high density of vehicles will have to shell out more for using community parking space as compared to sectors with fewer vehicles.This has been proposed in the parking policy being framed by the department of urban planning. "There is parking problem across the city and the residents are looking for solutions, for which they ready to pay," said the mayor.
