The historyIn 2001, Tamil Nadu made installation of Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) structures mandatory. Permission to install RWH structures in residential and commercial buildings should be received from the respective town-planning officer or zonal officer. Municipalities, town panchayats and village panchayats also have their town-planning sections which have the authority to sanction RWH structures in new buildings.
