TN gang robs truck laden with Bengal gram

MADURAI: An unidentified gang in Tamil Nadu escaped with a truck laden with 480 bags of Bengal gram on Tuesday morning. He started from Salem with 480 bags of Bengal gram on Monday night and was on his way to Madurai city. The police were searching for the truck and the gang involved in the robbery.Police said the complainant was working with JJ Transport company. The incident took place at Nagari on the outskirts of Madurai.Based on a complaint filed by truck driver G Natarajan, 56, of NGO Colony in Namakkal, the Sholavandan police registered a case. He stopped the vehicle at a parking bay on the Dindigul- Madurai four-way road to check the condition of the tyres.Wielding knives, the gang members threatened him and escaped with the vehicle.Police said the worth of the Bengal gram was Rs 13 lakh while the value of the stolen truck was estimated to be Rs 6 lakh..
