2 traffic cops injured as bus tries to cut through

CHENNAI: Two policemen regulating traffic on Grand South Trunk (GST) Road at Maraimalai Nagar escaped with minor injuries after a TNSTC pushed past past barely misssing them on Friday. Arul Murugan sustained injuries on the hand and back, while Chellathangam suffered minor bruises on the hand in the accident.”Witnesses told police that Arul Murugan and Chellathangam were regulating traffic as the signal was choked by vehicles entering Chennai city after long Pongal holidays. Police personnel quoting doctors said the conditions of the policemen was stable.Vandalur deputy superintendent of police Vallavan said, “The two policemen had a miraculous escape. The bus driver was arrested.Police said Chellathangam, 26, of Tirunelveli and Arul Murugan, 25, of Tiruvannamalai, orginally attached to the armed reserve wing, sustained injuries to the hand and the back from the accident and were admitted to a private hospital at Kattankulathur.
