BJP running 'benami' govt in Tamil Nadu: Poll

About 84 per cent of the participants said that the central government was interfering in the functioning of the state government. Significantly, late Jayalalithaa was against NEET or any other kind of common entrance exam for medical admissions as it would favour urban students. With less than a month left before Tamil Nadu goes to poll for the Lok Sabha and assembly by-elections on April 18, Samayam Tamil tried to capture people's opinion on several issues, which are likely to impact the voting trends in the state.Majority of the voters, who participated in the poll, believe that Edapaddi K Palaniswamy-led AIADMK government in the state is a 'benami' government run by the Centre and the Bharatiya Janata Party . However, 21 per cent felt that Tamil Nadu government's support to the implementation of NEET and GST was a right move.About 59 per cent of the participants feel that decision of handing over the cash to people will have no impact on the voters, but 33 per cent said that the move will increase AIADMK's vote bank.Eighty-three per cent of the respondents feel that the current AIADMK government has failed to address the farmers' issues.Currently, the 234-member-Tamil Nadu state Legislative Assembly has only a sitting strength of 212 as 22 seats are lying vacant. At present a total of 22 assembly seats are lying vacant in the state.About 71 per cent of the participants are of the opinion that the Pollachi sexual abuse issue has brought a bad name to the current AIADMK government in the state and could be a major factor at the hustings.About 72 per cent of the respondents feel that change in the state government's stance over issue like National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) and GST post-Jayalalithaa's demise was wrong and it will impact the party's prospects in the forthcoming elections..
