Ex-MLA alleges OPS hand in Rs 2320cr scam

MADURAI: Claiming that he has proof of deputy chief minister and AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam’s hand in a scam involving Rs 2,320 crore in granting permission to regularise unapproved layouts across the state, rebel AIADMK ex-MLA from Vilathikulam assembly segment G V Markandeyan told reporters on Saturday that he will fight a legal battle and that OPS would soon be behind bars.The allegations have surfaced days after Markandeyan expressed his displeasure over the decision not to field him as the party candidate at the by-poll at Vilathikulam assembly constituency.A couple of days ago he also announced contesting the by-polls as an independent candidate. The former OPS loyalist accused OPS of obtaining Rs 3 per sqft to sanction thousands of acres of unapproved layouts in rural Tamil Nadu.Stating that he has enough proof of OPS’s hand in the scam, he added that the evidence included documents, video and audio recordings of the conversations of OPS, his kin and associates.Claiming that they were collected by people including intelligence personnel and those who gave money for getting the approval, he said that those who gave money are ready to testify against OPS.Markandeyan also said that he is not releasing the proof to the journalists as it might result in the opposite party destroying it..
