Intricately carved wooden structures which were once part of age-old temple cars — the chariots used to carry deities in festival processions were on display at the newly-built exhibition hall. As part of an initiative to bring lesser-known antiquities to public view the Department of Museums and Department of Archaeology is conducting a month-long special thematic exhibition ‘Enchanting Temple Car Wood Carvings’. T Udhayachandran, principal secretary, Department of Archaeology and director (FAC), Department of Museums and Kavitha Ramu, director-cum-mission director, Integrated Child Development Services, presided over the event. The Art Gallery building is in the final stages of renovation and will be open in a month or two..
