Tamil Nadu and Puducherry had 10,99,521 pending cases as on December 31, 2016. "The number of transactions recorded for eCourts rose from two crore in 2014 to 66 crore in 2017. As on December 31, 2016, the pendency in subordinate courts stood at 2.74 crore.Among the subordinate courts, Uttar Pradesh topped the list with 59,80,071 pending cases, followed by Maharashtra with 32,39,540 cases.
