Corporation schools see fall in student strength over the years

The schools run by the Coimbatore Corporation have been seeing a steady decline in student strength over the years. The fall in student strength shows the lack of monitoring, says R.

Even in 2011-12, the Corporation schools saw 28,845 students take lessons in higher secondary, high, middle, elementary and special schools. The Corporation has plans to spend ?27.51 crore towards improving the infrastructure in five of its 83 schools with the Central Government funds, at a time when it has been seeing continuous fall in student strength. The result is that those teachers who have been teaching students in Tamil are also teaching students in English medium..
