Tirupur: The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR & CE) department has issued show-cause notices to five trustees of Karunalayaswami mutt for misusing around 5 acres belonging to Avinashi Lingeshwarar temple. A portion of the disputed land was rented out to a private primary school for more than 30 years. The trustees should have utilized the lands for growing flowers and provide the garlands to all the deities of Avinashi Lingeshwarar temple and required things during Vasantha Utsav held during Tamil month Vaigasi (April-May), throughout their lifetime. The trustees were asked to give a reply within 15 days, the official added.
