Marking stone may unravel history of Lingeswarar temple

We are conducting research to find out whether Avinashi Lingeswarar temple was one among another temple that existed here. Many statues at Avinashi Lingeswarar temple depict the lore. Tirupur: A group of archaeology enthusiasts here have informed the state archaeology department about the discovery of a mudhalai vai pillai kal, a marking stone used to earmark properties of Avinashi Lingeswarar temple, near Kousika river in Vanjipalayam. “The marking stone was buried next to the fence of a private land adjacent to Kousika river.
