MLA petitions Tirupur collector to give pattas to 200 families

Tirupur: Tirupur south legislator S Gunasekaran, along with residents of Pattukottaiyar Nagar here, petitioned collector K S Palanisamy on Monday seeking to give title deeds for lands where about 200 families have been residing for about 30 years.As per the land ceiling act, the government had recovered around 2.5 acres in Pattukottaiyar Nagar 30 years ago and gave it to five people.However, within a few months, about 200 economically backward families occupied the land. They demanded the government to allot the land to them, but in vain.Subsequently, both the parties filed civil cases before courts.Amid this, the residents made a out-of-court settlement with the five people and both the parties withdrew the cases..
