Government Arts College students, faculty show the way to eliminate use of plastic

Our aim is to become a model campus.”Vasanthi said they had been making efforts to eliminate the use of plastic water bottles, which are bought during functions and seminars. “We have eliminated the use of polythene carry bags in our college canteen too.”On Tuesday, the college held a plastic elimination awareness meet, where students displayed biodegradable alternatives for commonly used plastic products such as cups and baskets. She said plastic dustbins and dusters in classrooms have been replaced with steel dustbins and cloth dusters. On display were cloth, paper and steel alternatives for everyday and household plastic articles..
