Coimbatore | Friday | 14th December, 2018

Summary:

Some even sold cattle to slaughter houses. While authorities maintain that they have supplied cattle feed, farmers in many villages found it inadequate. Finding no viable option to raise the catttle, the farmers sold them to make ends meet. TRICHY: Cyclone Gaja took a toll on livestock population across delta districts and the ones that survived were not very lucky either. Many farmers raising native cattle breeds were forced to sell their livestock as they were unable to feed them. While all the cattle feed that they had stored was destroyed during the cyclone, considerable loss to trees and crops had resulted in unavailability of green fodder. We are expecting it to arrive by Friday,” said P Nedunchezhian, regional joint director in-charge of animal husbandry in Nagapattinnam ..
