Scoot to operate flights to Singapore from October 27

Coimbatore: Scoot, the low-cost arm of Singapore Airlines, will replace SilkAir’s operations by operating flights between Coimbatore and Singapore five days a week from October 27.The flight will be operated on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “It will take off from the Coimbatore airport at 11pm and reach Singapore at 6am. They do not want to travel with cramped leg space, buy on flight meals and collect their luggage in Singapore and recheck it for the next leg. They are used to flying only business class. These flyers will choose to fly out of Kochi or Chennai instead,” he told TOI.The Travel Agents Association of Coimbatore had recently submitted a petition to Singapore Airlines to not completely replace SilkAir with Scoot along with letters from industrial bodies such as the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Tirupur Exporters Association and CODISSIA.Besides Coimbatore, Scoot has announced new flights to Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam from May..
