Chettipalayam to host jallikattu today

Coimbatore: Municipal administration minister S P Velumani on Saturday inspected the arrangements for the jallikattu to be conducted at Chettipalayam near the L&T bypass here on Sunday.Organizers said the work on barricades, stage and vaadivaasal has been completed, along with levelling of ground. The event, which will be inaugurated by Velumani, will commence at 7am on Sunday“More than 500 bulls from different places, including Alanganallur and Madurai, and more than 600 tamers have been registered for the event. Bulls will be subjected to an additional round of medical check-up before allowing them to enter the ground,” said one of the organizers, who didn’t want to be named.More than 12 ambulances with doctors would be deployed at the venue to take care of tamers who sustain injuries or meet other emergencies..
