Septic tank lorry caught releasing effluents into ditch

Tirupur: Even as the district administration is yet to act against the owner of two septic tank cleaner trucks for illegally releasing industrial effluents in a farmland seven months ago, another septic tank cleaner truck released effluents in a ditch at Nallur in the city on Monday.Around 11.45am on Monday, a septic tank cleaner truck, bearing name ‘Sri Ganapathy Septic Tank Cleaners’, was seen on Nallur-Koolipalayam Road. Now, another septic cleaner truck was caught for the same offence. However, a senior official associated with the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board said it was not industrial effluent but only septic tank waste water.South Tirupur RTO P Muruganandham said, “It was illegal to run a vehicle sans registration numbers and the department will take action against the truck owner.” Its driver and cleaner were pumping out black colour industrial effluent into drainage, around half a kilometre from Nallur police station.“The truck did not have registration number plates in both front and rear sides.
