Summary:

COIMBATORE: The railways on Saturday announced that the Coimbatore-Bangalore YSR Uday Express will run six days a week, except on Wednesday. This move comes after a large number of students and IT professionals working in Bengaluru demanded a train on Monday to take them back to work and college, after a weekend. All trains including Shatabdi and Intercity trains have one exemption day for this purpose,” said a railways spokesperson. The six coach train, which can accommodate 684 passengers, achieves 60 per cent occupancy on weekdays and 90 per cent occupancy on weekends. The train leaves Coimbatore at 5.45am and reaches Bangaluru at 12.45pm. Since the railways require one day in a week for maintenance of chair cars, they have decided to not run the train on Wednesday.“We need one full day for maintenance of chair car trains..
