TNAU on a drive to inspect agricultural colleges in state

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is in the process of inspecting agricultural colleges in the state to assess them before they start admission for the coming academic year.TNAU vice-chancellor N Kumar said the standing committee of the university was entrusted with the inspection drive.There are 26 agricultural colleges in the state and the committee has so far inspected eight of them, he said. “A team from ICAR would inspect these colleges and send us the results.” tnn “The colleges would be able to intake students only after getting the university’s approval.”Meanwhile, the new agricultural colleges would be accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) only after the first batch of students graduate (after four-year course), Kumar said. “The committee has been given a deadline of April 15 to complete the drive.”The university would assess the features of colleges and would accord approval through its board, Kumar said..
