Two men arrested for robbing man at knifepoint

Coimbatore: The city police arrested two serial robbers at Mettupalayam Road on Wednesday.The accused have been identified as R Prabhakaran, 21, a resident of Narasimanaickenpalayam, and R Vicky alias Vignesh, 21, of KK Pudhur. They are working as mechanics at a private two-wheeler sales centre on Mettupalayam Road.According to the police, K Sivanesan, a resident of KK Pudur, had left his house around 6.30pm on Wednesday. On the way, unidentified men had threatened him at knifepoint and made away with Rs 1,000 from him.When Sivanesan cried for help, passers-by tried to nab the robbers but in vain.Based on Sivanesan’s complaint, the city police formed a special team headed by inspector M Ravikumar and arrested the accused at Mettupalayam Road.On investigation, the accused had confessed that they had committed a similar crime on March 13.The accused had robbed a 23-year-old man of Rs 9,000 after hitting him with a rod..
