Summary:

COIMBATORE: While the Noyyal river has been the lifeline of Coimbatore and surrounding regions through history, not many people from here would have had the chance to know how the river’s water tastes. “We have collected water in 50 cans of 20litre capacity each. The chances for that is little, as in the recent years the river has been polluted by sewage, plastics and other kinds of waste. However, city residents will have an opportunity to taste Noyyal in its purity this Friday, the World Water Day . This is the second consecutive year the forum would conduct such an event. We chose a spot above where people bathe so that the water would be clean,” said R Manikandan, a representative of the forum. The water they collected from the spring was as tasty as that of the Siruvani, said Manikandan..
