Disabled seek jobs, security as poll promise

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Differently Abled Welfare Association has decided to support any political party which promises to provide jobs and security to its 22 lakh members.The decision was taken at the association’s state general body meeting held in Erode on Sunday. In Tamil Nadu, votes of 22 lakh disabled people and their families 1.28 crore votes will go for the party which works for the welfare of the disabled people.He accused the state and Union governments of failing to implement the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.TNN A resolution passed in the meeting said as per the reservation policy, jobs should be allotted to disabled people in government and private companies and sexual harassment against disabled women should be stopped and they should be protected.Simmachandran said there are 12 crore disabled people in the country and 22 lakh in Tamil Nadu.
